***THIS POSITION HAS BEEN FILLED****
Hi All,
Hi All,
I am currently seeking an intern exclusively to read full manuscripts and provide reader reports.
For the most part, you'll be choosing whichever full manuscripts you want, reading as long as they interest you, and emailing me a short paragraph or two on your thoughts.
Occasionally, I may ask you to read a specific manuscript to give me a second opinion.
I still personally read ALL of manuscripts that I request, however knowing where you stopped and why helps cut down the time I spend reading, particularly when I'm on the fence and just "waiting to see if it goes somewhere."
Additionally, I am hoping for a reader who can notify me immediately when they find a "You should drop everything and read this" manuscript. Sometimes it's not about articulating what's great, it's about making sure I don't miss anything incredible.
I suspect it is about 5-10 hours a week, but that’s flexible.
PLEASE NOTE: I represent only middle grade and young adult fiction, plus romance (new adult, regency, and contemporary). I am looking for someone who loves each of these genres equally!

Some basics:
- This is a remote position (it can be done anywhere. Literally. You can live in Zimbabwe.)
- You can work at any time of the day.
- It’s okay if you are a writer. It’s okay if you are querying and have queried me or plan to. It's okay if you are agented and/or published. You may want to make sure your agent is comfortable with it.
- It is an unpaid internship, but I am happy to chat with you about publishing and give basic advice.
- You may choose to call yourself a 'lit agent intern' on twitter and whatnot, but you will not be able to publicly discuss that you are MY intern, specifically, and you cannot tweet about any of the queries or manuscripts. This is pretty standard, but I wanted to be upfront.
- If you already intern for another agency, publisher, I am unable to consider you for this position, simply to avoid any conflicts of interest.
- If you happen to live in the Seattle-Tacoma area (NOT required) and are interested in working together in my home office for a few hours once a month, we may discuss this. You may also be paid in lunch dates. ;-)

Please put INTERNSHIP inthe subject line! I have a filter set-up to ensure it goes into the correct folder and does not end up in spam.

Include:
-Any publishing background (No experience required, but it’s good to know if you do have some)
-A list of your favorite books (5 to 10 titles. Please stick with the aforementioned genres. DO NOT USE CLASSICS. I'm looking to see if our tastes in the current market align well.)
-Do not attach anything.
-I do not need a full blown resume. Keep it casual and just tell me a bit about yourself and your favorite books. If you WANT to include your resume that is fine, but please paste it below the rest. No need to write a new resume just for me.

And, final tip: I really do prefer you just be yourself and skip the formalness! I'm not an HR director, just an agent looking for someone I click with who would like to see what the slush pile is like.
I will wait until this weekend to screen the applicants, so the position is “open” until Friday, March 7, at midnight. Keep an eye on this space and I'll announce when the intern is selected. Due to the volume of replies I get to intern calls, I don't personally reply to them. (Unless you are selected, of course!)
If you have replied to previous internships and were not selected, feel free to email again.
